Køb 4-Pro-MET

Storage makes or breaks potency. 4-Pro-MET pellets kept properly (cool, dry, light-protected, airtight) can hold up for 12+ months – but sloppy storage degrades even ester-protected compounds within weeks. This guide covers temperature, humidity, light protection, and container choices for every common tryptamine research chemical form.

The Three Enemies: Moisture, Light, and Heat

Moisture triggers ester hydrolysis – the exact reaction the body uses to activate prodrug tryptamines. On the shelf, that hydrolysis is the enemy: it converts the stable prodrug into the oxidation-prone free hydroxyl form. Even modest humidity (>60% RH) measurably accelerates degradation of ester tryptamines stored as powder or in unsealed containers.

Light is the second threat. UV and visible wavelengths drive photolytic breakdown of the indole chromophore, producing ring-opened products that are pharmacologically dead. And heat? It speeds up every degradation reaction according to Arrhenius kinetics – roughly doubling the rate for every 10°C rise. A compound stable for 12 months at 20°C may degrade within 3 months at 40°C.

Optimal Storage by Form

Pellets: The most resilient form. Keep them in their original packaging inside an airtight container with desiccant. Room temperature (below 25°C) works fine for 12+ months. For longer storage (6+ months), refrigerate at 2-8°C. Don't freeze – ice crystal formation physically damages tablets.

Powder: More vulnerable because of the high surface area. Double-bag in vacuum-sealed or zip-lock bags with desiccant, then place in an opaque container. Refrigerate anything you plan to store beyond 3 months. Expected shelf life: 6-12 months when stored properly.

Liquid solutions: The most perishable form, full stop. Refrigerate at all times, protect from light (amber glass vials are ideal), and maintain sterility to prevent microbial contamination. Expected shelf life: 3-6 months refrigerated. Freezing can work for some solvents but may cause the active compound to precipitate out.

Signs of Degradation

Color change is the most obvious warning sign – darkening to brown or purple-black, similar to mushroom bruising. Unusual odor counts too, and for liquids, watch for precipitation or cloudiness. Pellets that have shifted from their original shade should be treated as potentially degraded.

But here's the catch: degradation can happen without any visible signs at all. That's why getting storage right from the start beats relying on visual inspection after the fact. If you need certainty, analytical testing (HPLC) is the only reliable way to confirm potency.

In an airtight, opaque container with a silica gel desiccant packet, stored below 25°C. Refrigeration (2-8°C) for storage exceeding 6 months. Do not freeze. Expected shelf life: 12+ months under these conditions.

Shelf life varies by form: pellets (12+ months at room temperature), powder (6-12 months refrigerated), liquid solutions (3-6 months refrigerated). Ester prodrugs like 4-Pro-MET last significantly longer than free hydroxyl compounds like 4-HO-MET.

Visual signs include color darkening (brown/purple), unusual odor, and liquid precipitation. However, degradation can occur without visible changes. HPLC analysis is the only reliable potency confirmation method. When in doubt, proper storage from the start is better than post-hoc inspection.

Yes. Arrhenius kinetics predict that degradation rate roughly doubles for every 10°C increase. A compound stable for 12 months at 20°C may degrade within 3 months at 40°C. Even the difference between 20°C and 30°C can meaningfully reduce shelf life.

Freezing can damage solid forms (pellets crack from ice crystal expansion) and cause precipitation in liquid solutions. Freeze-thaw cycles are particularly destructive. Refrigeration at 2-8°C provides excellent preservation without these risks.
